Rehabilitation Services

At Aqua Animal Care Center, we provide full-service rehabilitation tailored to your pet’s specific needs, collaborating closely with your veterinarian, orthopedic surgeon, or neurologist. Even without a referral, you can seek our expert services to help your pet find relief from pain, regain strength, and improve function after injuries or due to degenerative conditions.

Rehabilitation therapy is highly effective for treating a variety of medical conditions in animals, including arthritis, joint diseases, spinal or neurological disorders, and post-surgical recovery. If your pet is limping, weakening, slowing down, or showing signs of pain, our personalized treatment plans can help identify the cause and create an effective strategy for recovery.

Common Conditions Treated with Pet Rehabilitation:

  • Arthritis and Joint Diseases: Hip dysplasia, elbow dysplasia, degenerative joint disease
  • Spinal and Neurological Disorders: IVDD, degenerative myelopathy, FCE, neck or back pain
  • Post-Surgery Care: TPLO, FHO, fracture repair, elbow arthroscopy, hemilaminectomy
  • Lameness and Limping: Unknown lameness, head bobbing, short stride
  • Muscle and Ligament Issues: Cruciate injury, patellar luxation, soft tissue strains
  • Geriatric Mobility Issues: Slowing down, reluctance to rise, jump, or exercise
  • Weight Management and Preventative Health: Overweight pets, poor exercise tolerance, breed predispositions
  • Muscle Loss: Aging, illness, steroid use
  • Athletic Conditioning: Agility dogs, working dogs

During a rehabilitation consultation, we go beyond a standard veterinary exam to analyze gait, measure muscle mass and flexibility, and assess strength and overall mobility. Pain levels are evaluated to ensure adequate pain control throughout recovery. Each consultation includes a treatment session (laser therapy or acupuncture), a customized home exercise program, and an in-clinic plan addressing any concerns.

Our rehabilitation program integrates hands-on therapy, cold laser therapy, physical exercises, and gait modification or resistance work on a treadmill or underwater treadmill. These exercises focus on balance, proprioception, strength, endurance, and flexibility. Acupuncture may be added for pain relief and neurological support. This comprehensive approach ensures your pet becomes stronger, more comfortable, and more active.

We also offer boarding services for daily drop-offs or extended stays, ensuring your pet receives consistent care and completes their physical therapy treatments without disruption. We specialize in creating wellness packages tailored to your pet’s needs.
