Erica Ancier
Veternarian

Dr. Ancier grew up in Southern California where she completed her undergraduate studies at UCSB. She graduated with honors from Western University of Health Sciences in 2018, receiving her Doctorate in Veterinary Medicine. Her clinical training was focused on rehabilitation, sports medicine, and holistic modalities for both small animals and horses.

Dr. Ancier obtained her veterinary acupuncture certification (CVA) for both companion animals and horses from the Chi Institute of Traditional Chinese Veterinary Medicine in Florida and her canine rehabilitation practitioner certification (CCRP) from the University of Tennessee. She spent a few years as the clinical director of a large rehabilitation facility in the Bay Area before moving back to the San Diego area.

She went on to receive her fear free certification and often utilizes fear free techniques to help her patients remain calm. At AACC, Dr. Ancier provides veterinary care to the local police department canines and really enjoys keeping our canine officers feeling their best. She works with numerous sporting dogs in the fields of agility, protection work, and other competitive sports to help with both conditioning and rehabilitation. Dr. Ancier emphasizes pain management and preventative care, and utilizes both holistic and traditional medicine modalities as part of an integrative approach towards optimal animal wellness and healing. Outside of AACC, Dr. Ancier provides holistic services for horses as well as taking care of her own small farm full of horses and dogs.

Carmine Bausone
Veterinarian

Dr. Bausone is the owner of Companion Animal Wellness Center. He is passionate about combining the best of Western and Eastern medicine to treat and keep your dog, cat and exotic companions healthy and thriving.

A native of Los Angeles, Dr. Bausone graduated from the University of California at Davis, with his Doctor of Veterinary Medicine degree in 1996. He has a special interest in working with birds, rabbits, reptiles and other exotic animals and in addition, he has a passion for providing holistic medical therapies to all species. Dr. Bausone has had extensive training in Traditional Chinese Veterinary Medicine (TCVM), and received his Certificate in Veterinary Acupuncture through the International Veterinary Acupuncture Society in 2008. He is also trained in Veterinary Orthopedic Manipulation, which is similar to chiropractic medicine in humans. Dr. Bausone is skilled in the use of both Chinese and Western herbs, and he uses laser therapy and prolotherapy to help achieve healing for his patients. With the mantra of “Let food be thy medicine, and medicine be thy food”, Dr. Bausone is keenly interested in dietary therapy and how food is the cornerstone of health and well being.

Dr. Bausone has lived in San Diego County for over 20 years, and shares his home with his wife, 2 sons and a variety of animal companions.

Sheradan Pate
Veterinarian

Dr. Sheradan Pate was raised amidst the lush landscapes of Louisiana and South Carolina, cultivating a profound love for all creatures great and small. Her formative years on a bustling farm, surrounded by horses, cats, and dogs, instilled in her a deep-seated respect for the natural world.

It wasn’t until her college years that Dr. Pate decided to channel her passion for animals into a career in veterinary medicine. Opting to pursue her education at the University of Georgia College of Veterinary Medicine (GO DAWGS!), she graduated with honors in 2002, armed with a commitment to merging her scientific acumen with her unwavering dedication to animal welfare. Seeking new adventures and opportunities, Dr. Pate ventured beyond the confines of her southern upbringing to Oahu, Hawaii. For 14 years, she honed her skills in small animal medicine and surgery, all the while nurturing a burgeoning interest in Traditional Chinese Medicine and integrative veterinary care. Driven by her desire to provide comprehensive and holistic care to her patients, Dr. Pate embarked on a journey of learning and growth, attaining certifications in Veterinary Acupuncture(2006) and Canine Physical Rehabilitation (2012). Through the integration of these alternative modalities, she not only improved the physical well-being of her patients but also deepened the bond between pets and their human companions.

Throughout her career, Dr. Pate has been instrumental in developing rehabilitation services at various small animal hospitals across Hawaii, South Carolina, and California. In her moments of leisure, Dr. Pate finds solace in the beauty of nature, often embarking on hikes to rejuvenate her spirit. A dedicated practitioner of holistic well-being, she also indulges in the restorative practices of Pilates and Yoga. Above all, her heart is most full when surrounded by her two cherished children and four beloved fur-children, who bring boundless joy and laughter to her life.

Gabriella Varcoe
Veterinarian

Dr. Gabriella Varcoe DVM, DACVSMR, CCRP, CVA, CVPP, Certified in Animal Chiropractic (IVCA), CVFT, CSMP graduated from Ross University School of Veterinary Medicine in 2007, receiving her doctor of veterinary medicine degree. Her fourth year of veterinary school for clinics she spent at Michigan State University. In 2010, she studied canine rehabilitation at the University Of Tennessee College Of Veterinary Medicine and became a Certified Canine Rehabilitation Practitioner (CCRP). Dr. Varcoe then attended the Chi Institute of Traditional Chinese Veterinary Medicine in Florida – where she became a Certified Veterinary Acupuncturist (CVA) and Food Therapy (CVFT). Dr. Varcoe is also certified as a Veterinary Pain Practitioner (CVPP) through the IVAPM acquired certification in animal chiropractic through the IVCA. She is also a certified myofascial practitioner (CSMP).

In 2017 she started a residency program in canine sports medicine and rehabilitation and became board certified (DACVSMR).

Dr. Varcoe’s fields of greatest interest include: Rehabilitation therapy, integrative medicine, longevity and aging, geriatric and special needs care, pain management, nutrition and the microbiome. Originally from Venezuela, Dr. Varcoe moved Is fluent in Spanish. In her free time, Dr. Varcoe keeps busy taking part in a variety of outdoor activities with her family, which includes her Labrador retriever named Kirby
